Job summary

Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland is seeking an experienced educational leader to join our Junior School as Assistant Principal from Term 1, 2027. This is a full-time role reporting to the Head of Junior School and includes up to 0.4 teaching.

You will lead the IB PYP programme, oversee daily timetables and student well-being in Years 0–6, and work with a warm, collaborative team that values every girl.

Qualifications

• NZ teacher registration and proven school leadership experience.
• Strong leadership, strategic, interpersonal, organisational and digital skills.
• Expertise in curriculum development, assessment and student achievement, including current curriculum knowledge and teaching experience above Year 6.
• A commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• IB PYP knowledge and experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support the Head and Deputy Principal in leading the Junior School and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), deputising as required.
• Oversee daily programmes, timetables, duty rosters and house events.
• Lead the support and specialist teaching teams, and support behaviour management and pastoral care.
• Coordinate academic assessments and competitions, and teach Year 6 extension groups.
• Play a key part in leadership and continued development of the PYP.
