Job summary

Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland is seeking an Assistant Night Manager to join our overnight leadership team. This is a full-time role, rostered 7 days with shifts from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, covering nights and weekends.

You will support the Night Manager, oversee audits, and ensure smooth nightly operations. The ideal candidate will have prior night management or night audit experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in night operations or night audit roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a can-do attitude.
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety, emergency procedures and hospitality compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive service to guests arriving late or departing early.

• Collate and audit cashier shifts and report financials to Finance.
• Oversee Night Auditor duties and nightly operations.

Hotel Grand Chancellor – Auckland, North Island

Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland is part of the Grand Hotels International group with hotels located throughout New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore. We are currently looking for a dedicated and professional Assistant Night Manager to join our overnight leadership team.

In this role, you will support the Night Manager in overseeing the effective and efficient operation of the Hotel during night hours. You will also be responsible for managing the shift in the Night Manager's absence. This role involves reception duties, auditing the hotel's daily transactions, preparation of reports, ensuring guest and staff safety, and maintaining compliance with relevant policies and regulations, including the liquor licensing requirements.

This is a Full Time role, rostered across a 7-day rotating schedule, including weekends. Hours worked will be between 11.00pm and 7.30am, however some flexibility is required to meet operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive service to guests arriving late and departing early, ensuring they experience the same level of care and hospitality throughout their stay
• Assist with and conduct nightly audit processes and preparation of end-of-day reports
• Accurately collate and audit all cashiering shifts, and ensure relevant financial information is communicated to the Finance Department
• Allocate and oversee the completion of the Night Auditor duties
• Ensure the safety and security of all hotel guests, staff, and assets
• Respond to guest requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Monitor and manage hotel operations in line with company policies and procedures
• Address after-hours maintenance issues or elevate where necessary
• Ensure compliance with fire safety and emergency procedures
• Uphold the requirements of the hotel's on-license and host responsibility obligations
• Coordinate and deliver room service during the night shift, as required

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have

• Previous experience as an Assistant Night Manager or a minimum of two years in a Night Auditor role
• Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to lead by example
• A relevant qualification in Hospitality Management (preferred but not essential)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A high level of professionalism and attention to detail
• Effective time management and the ability to work independently
• A sound understanding of Health & Safety procedures, emergency protocols and promotes sustainability
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
• A current Manager's Certificate and First Aid Certificate
