Job summary

Franklin Smith is seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator on the West Coast of New Zealand. The role is permanent, typically 30 hours per week with potential up to 70 hours, Monday to Friday with weekend shifts available.

You will operate Class 2 machinery and a range of asphalt plant equipment, ensuring safe practices and on‑time project delivery. Travel to different regions may be required with relocation covered by the company.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident and have at least 3 years full‑time Asphalt Plant Operation work experience.
• A valid driver license, class 2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 2 machinery and asphalt plant equipment.
• Work closely with Foreman and Leading Hand to ensure safety and on-schedule completion.
• Ensure correct setup and material flow for specified levels and compaction.
• Assist with side screed operation, widths, extensions and levels.
