Job summary

Franklin Smith is seeking multiple experienced Asphalt Plant Operators for Marlborough, NZ. You will operate road construction plants and related earthmoving duties, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

NZ citizenship or residency and a Class 2 license are required, along with references and a clean police/drug check. The role offers permanent, full-time work with 30 hours minimum and up to 70 hours per week, including potential weekend shifts and travel to NZ regions as needed.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident; 3+ years asphalt plant operation experience.
• Must pass police check and drug test.
• Valid Class 2 (or higher) driver license.

Responsibilities

• Work with Foreman to complete projects safely and on schedule.
• Operate asphalt plant equipment and Class 2 machinery.
• Ensure correct setup, alignment, and material flow for pavings.
• Assist with screed operation, widths, levels, and falls.
• Monitor mat quality, temperature, and finish; adjust as needed.
• Coordinate with truck drivers and crew for steady asphalt supply.
• Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance on equipment.
• May move to other regions for projects as required.
