Job summary

Franklin Smith is seeking multiple experienced Asphalt Plant Operators for road construction projects across New Zealand. The role requires a minimum 3 years of full-time asphalt plant operation experience and a valid Class 2 driver license.

You will work with foremen to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery of materials. The position offers a permanent, full-time schedule (Mon–Fri) with the possibility of weekend shifts and travel to different regions.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident and at least 3 years full-time Asphalt Plant Operation experience.
• Valid Class 2 driver license.
• Willingness to pass police check and drug test.
• Willingness to travel to different regions for projects.
• Minimum 30 hours per week, up to 70 hours per week.
• Permanent role with Monday to Friday schedule, extra weekend shifts possible.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt plant equipment and pavers, ensuring correct setup and material flow.
• Coordinate with Foreman and crew to maintain safety and on-schedule work.
• Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Assist with manual tasks and shovelling where needed on-site.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly job site; support travel between project regions.
