Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced baker to join a well-established artisan bakery in the Otago region of New Zealand. This full-time role involves producing a wide range of handcrafted breads in a high-volume production setting, using traditional methods and premium ingredients to ensure top-quality products.

You will work alongside a skilled and supportive team, handling dough from scratch and maintaining rigorous food-safety standards while meeting daily production targets

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of commercial baking experience.
• Experience producing artisan breads from scratch.
• Knowledge of dough mixing, fermentation, proofing and baking processes.
• Ability to work in a high-volume production bakery.
• Strong foodsafety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Positive attitude with strong work ethic.
• Formal baking qualification preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake a variety of artisan breads from scratch.
• Mix, ferment, shape and bake dough using traditional baking techniques.
• Produce sourdough, baguettes, burger buns, pretzels, specialty loaves and seasonal products.
• Maintain consistent product quality throughout the production process.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor fermentation, proofing and baking times.
• Maintain high foods safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Assist with stock rotation and ingredient management.
• Support team members to achieve daily production targets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of bakery operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
