Job summary

Dunedin City Council – Dunedin, South Island is seeking an experienced Team Leader for Te Puna o Whakaehu to oversee daily operations of our new aquatic facility, lead staff, ensure a safe, welcoming experience for customers and manage health and safety compliance.

You will drive continuous improvement, collaborate with contractors and council teams, and be prepared to provide operations support outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing teams in aquatics or recreation.
• Experience in aquatics, recreation, or customer service environments.
• Strong health and safety and risk management knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the facility.
• Oversee staff, safety, and customer experience.
• Ensure health and safety and compliance.
• Support continuous improvement across the site.
• Coordinate with contractors, community groups, and Council teams.
• Provide operational support outside normal hours when needed.
