Job summary

Landpower Ltd in Dunedin invites applications for an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprentice. You will join a team of experienced technicians, working in both workshop and field environments while completing a structured apprenticeship to service, repair and diagnose agricultural machinery.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of diesel vehicle servicing and repair experience.
  • Willing to learn through formal training and hands-on experience.
  • Full, clean Class 1 driver licence.
  • Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physically able for outdoor and workshop work.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take responsibility.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a structured apprenticeship and work towards required qualifications.
  • Assemble, service and repair agricultural machinery including mowers, rakes, seeders, sprayers and harvesters.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and precision farming system faults.
  • Use online systems to record work and access technical information.
  • Work in both workshop and field environments with experienced technicians.
  • Communicate with customers and help keep machinery operating during peak periods.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and keep an organised work area.

Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship

We are looking for an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join our team in Dunedin. You will work alongside experienced Agricultural Technicians in the workshop and out in the field while completing a structured apprenticeship programme. The role involves practical, hands-on work with a wide range of agricultural machinery. You will learn how to service, repair and diagnose equipment while developing an understanding of how machinery is used in farming operations.

  • Hands-on work with agricultural machinery
  • Learn alongside experienced technicians
  • Build practical skills and work towards a qualification
  • $24-$25 per hour

The work can be physically demanding and may involve working outdoors, travelling to customer properties and working additional hours during peak farming seasons.

About you!
  • Has practical agricultural knowledge and understands how machinery is used on-farm
  • Has at least one year of experience in a diesel vehicle servicing and repair environment
  • Has mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how machinery works
  • Is willing to learn through formal training and hands-on experience
  • Can follow instructions, ask questions and take responsibility for completing tasks
  • Is punctual, reliable and honest
  • Can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Is comfortable using computers and technology
  • Holds a full, clean Class 1 driver licence
