Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking an Application Engineer in Wellington to drive build, test, release, deployment and configuration activities for key applications. You will interact with customers, suppliers and Ministry staff at the highest technical levels, contributing to CI/CD and DevOps within a collaborative Case Services team.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an application engineer (1–2 years) or degree in CS/SE.
  • Willingness to learn languages/frameworks including Java, APEX, Oracle PL/SQL/SQL, JavaScript.
  • Experience with ReactJS, AOP, PowerBI is a plus.
  • Experience handling incidents and changes as part of BAU application support.
  • Contributing to CI/CD and DevOps.
  • Agile development and testing in product teams.

To be successful in this role you will be able to communicate effectively, have good attention to detail, the ability to learn rapidly and be focussed on delivering high quality outcomes to our customers.


Experience And Knowledge


  • Experience as an application engineer (1 to 2 years) and/or a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

  • Willingness to learn and/or experience in languages and frameworks appropriate to the Ministry's context including Java, APEX, Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle SQL, JavaScript, SQL Reports.

  • Experience in other technologies such as ReactJS, Apex Office Print AOP, and PowerBI is an advantage.

  • Experience in working on incidents and change requests as part of BAU application support.

  • Contributing to the implementation of Continuous Integration and / or DevOps.

  • Agile application development and testing in product development teams.

  • Working as a member of a product and services development team with varying unit goals but shared organisational goals.

  • Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.

  • Able to build and maintain a range of effective business relationships within an organisation and a wide network of professional relationships across organisations.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $105,226 - $144,034 based on skills and experience.
