Job summary

Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor to join the Operations Support team in NSD, Wellington. You will support frontline delivery, drive service improvements, and contribute to innovative programmes of work.

The role requires agile thinking, strategic insight, and strong stakeholder management across NSD and policy areas, with responsibilities spanning project delivery and briefing papers to support decision-making.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage stakeholder relationships across functions and prioritise requests.
  • Define problems, plan and deliver effective solutions for projects.
  • Provide advice on proposed legislative changes and operational impacts.
  • Develop relationships with NSD leadership, OSD, and Policy.
  • Contribute to briefing papers and memos to support decisions.
  • Support implementation projects for government law initiatives.
  • Mentor team members and share peer-to-peer support.

Senior Advisor
Operations Support, National Service Delivery, Wellington

We have an opportunity for experienced Senior Advisors to join our Operations Support team within National Service Delivery (NSD).

You will join a fast-paced team that is responsible for supporting the frontline operational delivery of essential Ministry of Justice services. No two days will be the same, with a mix of regular work, service improvement along with involvement in innovative programmes of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills - able to prioritise requests across functions, navigate and influence a wide range of stakeholder relationships.
  • Effective delivery of projects, including the ability to define a business problem, plan and deliver an effective solution.
  • Provide timely and expert advice on proposed legislative changes and the expected operational impacts on behalf of NSD business units.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with NSD leadership team, OSD business groups, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, and Policy.
  • Collaborate on high-quality briefing papers and memorandums to support decision-making.
  • Support implementation projects to ensure timely and effective delivery of the government's law and order initiatives.
  • Support a busy and fast-paced legislative work programme.
  • Provide peer-to-peer support and mentoring to other team members

Utu ā-tau/ Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $99,208 and $127,683 based on skills and experience.
