Job summary

Jora New Zealand seeks experienced aluminium fabricators and installers to join our Wellington team on long-term residential, commercial, and construction projects. You will gain hands-on experience in a busy, supportive environment and contribute to high-quality project delivery.

Key duties include reading blueprints, cutting and shaping aluminium stock, welding, joining and finishing products, and ensuring safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant scaffolding experience (qualification preferred but not compulsory).
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience handling, cutting, assembling, and glazing aluminium joinery.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, job sheets, and cutting lists accurately.
  • Commitment to safety guidelines, productivity, and high-quality workmanship.
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements and prepare metal stock.
  • Cut and shape aluminium sections using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.
  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes with tools and heat.
  • Align parts to be joined using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Join metal sections using welding, bolting or riveting and inspect welds for quality.

We are seeking experienced Aluminium Fabricators and Installers to join our team on long-term residential, commercial, and construction projects across Wellington. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a busy, supportive team where you will gain hands-on experience, work on exciting projects, and contribute to high-quality project delivery. What You'll Be Doing

  • Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
  • Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
  • Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
  • Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
  • Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
  • Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  • Marks off and fabricates structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessels.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant scaffolding experience (qualification preferred but not compulsory)
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience handling, cutting, assembling, and glazing aluminium joinery
  • Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings, job sheets, and cutting lists accurately
  • Strong commitment to safety guidelines, productivity, and high-quality workmanship
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of working effectively in a team
  • Valid Driver’s license and own transport to commute preferred but not compulsory.
  • Competitive hourly rate. ($28/Hour-$35/Hour)
  • Minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week (permanent full-time), maximum of 60 hours per week
  • Long-term work opportunities on major projects.
