At Trade Me, we're about connecting Kiwi to create the life they want. Whether it's the big things like finding a home, a job, a car or growing their business, or the smaller things, like finding that right bedside table or parting ways with some old stuff. At Trade Me our vision is to be the place where Kiwi look first.
Agentic AI is changing the way we work - not just in Engineering, but all across Trade Me. As the AI Workflows Engineer, you will focus on serving the growing demand from across Trade Me for AI-powered tools and workflows that help non-engineers work more effectively.
Here is what you can expect from this role:
- Design, build, test, and operate AI-embedded internal platforms and workflows used across Trade Me.
- Build and maintain engineering foundations that enable non-engineers to safely use AI capabilities.
- Own the operational health, reliability, safety, and performance of the platforms and workflows you build.
- Apply sound engineering practices - quality, observability, security, and supportability - consistent with Trade Me standards.
- Help set technical direction for AI workflows capability, establishing patterns and standards that others build on.
- Understand internal customer needs, guiding safe, responsible AI adoption and mentoring contributors
What you will bring to our team:
- Extensive software engineering experience in similar roles with progressive increases in responsibility.
- Practical, hands‑on experience building with modern AI and agentic tooling (e.g. LLM applications, AI‑embedded workflows).
- Demonstrated experience delivering AI‑powered or automation/integration solutions used by real users.
- Sound judgement regarding safe, responsible AI use, data handling, and risk.
- Excellent communication skills to translate non‑engineering stakeholder needs into working tools.
- Experience with Python, enterprise integrations, internal tooling, productivity systems, and Agile methods.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
