Job summary

Trade Me in Wellington is seeking an AI Workflows Engineer to design, build, test, and operate AI-embedded internal platforms and workflows used across Trade Me.

You will own the operational health, reliability, safety, and performance of the platforms you build, applying engineering best practices and guiding the team on AI workflows direction and standards.

Qualifications

• Proven software engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
• Hands-on experience building with AI and agentic tooling (LLM apps, AI-embedded workflows).
• Experience delivering AI-powered or automation solutions used by real users.
• Sound judgment on safe, responsible AI use, data handling and risk.
• Excellent communication translating non-engineering needs into tools.
• Experience with Python, enterprise integrations, internal tooling, productivity systems, and Agile methods.

What you will bring to our team:

• Extensive software engineering experience in similar roles with progressive increases in responsibility.
• Practical, hands‑on experience building with modern AI and agentic tooling (e.g. LLM applications, AI‑embedded workflows).
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI‑powered or automation/integration solutions used by real users.
• Sound judgement regarding safe, responsible AI use, data handling, and risk.
• Excellent communication skills to translate non‑engineering stakeholder needs into working tools.
• Experience with Python, enterprise integrations, internal tooling, productivity systems, and Agile methods.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
