Job summary

Trade Me, New Zealand’s leading online marketplace, is seeking a Senior Android Developer to shape native Android experiences within the Koru team. You will drive architectural standards and deliver high-visibility features to a broad Kiwi audience, using Kotlin and modern mobile practices.

You will mentor others, contribute across the software lifecycle, and explore new AI-driven approaches to keep Trade Me at the forefront of mobile innovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in native mobile development, specializing in Kotlin for Android platforms.
• Hands-on experience developing with AI tools, and a natural curiosity to weave them into your everyday work.
• Proven experience with Agile software development methodologies.
• Ability to deliver large features, support architectural decisions, and collaborate with Lead Software Engineers.
• A positive, collaborative mindset with strong organizational skills and comfort with self-directed work.
• Sharp attention to detail to make our mobile experience faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain.

Responsibilities

• Build native Android applications using Kotlin to give our mobile users a world-class experience.
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members as a trusted technical advisor.
• Contribute to all lifecycle phases - from ideation and design to development and user testing.
• Proactively research, investigate, and lead new initiatives to keep Trade Me at the forefront of mobile innovation.
• Uphold quality standards by implementing functional and UI automated tests alongside manual testing.
• Collaborate within dynamic squads and contribute to Trade Me mobile guilds.
