Job summary

Gentrack seeks a Senior Director of Engineering to provide executive leadership across our Southern Hemisphere hubs in New Zealand and Melbourne. Reporting to the CTO, you will act as the regional technology voice, bridging time zones with autonomy and strategic alignment to unify our engineering ecosystem.

You will lead AI-powered development initiatives, mentor engineering leaders, and foster a high-performance culture while maintaining architectural credibility and cross-border collaboration.

Qualifications

• 12 to 15 years of technology experience, with at least 5+ years in senior executive engineering leadership (Director / Senior Director).
• Proven track record of transforming engineering organisations across locations or regional hubs.
• Experience designing, scaling, and rolling out agile delivery methods and AI-assisted development practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across global timezones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Southern Hemisphere engineering teams and act as a proxy for the CTO with high autonomy and global alignment.
• Champion AI-powered engineering culture, mentor leaders, and drive upskilling across NZ and Melbourne hubs.
• Improve engineering velocity and governance by refining delivery processes and tooling, with AI augmentation.
• Maintain architectural credibility and collaborate with architects to ensure secure, scalable cloud/SaaS delivery.
