Job summary

ERoad is seeking a Technical Lead in Auckland (Albany HQ) to steer a delivery squad while staying hands-on with code. You will lead design, implementation, and delivery, unblock engineers, and drive AI-enabled development across the SaaS platform.

You will apply real-world backend expertise in Java/C#, cloud-native AWS or Azure environments, and mentor the team on AI tool usage, tests, and robust APIs, while working in a hybrid onsite/offsite setup.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend leadership with real depth in modern engineering.
• Production experience with Java and/or C# in scalable systems.
• Experience with cloud-native development on AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Lead developers through design, implementation, review and delivery.
• Unblock engineers and keep design decisions moving.
• Decompose tasks between AI agents and human judgement.
• Review AI-generated code and catch failures before production.
• Coach squad on using AI tools without lowering quality.
