Halter is seeking a scientist with a strong background in agricultural science to shape next‑gen predictive systems for grazing-based farming. You’ll work with ML engineers and product managers to translate science into measurable product value for farmers.

Your role includes designing experiments, validating ideas, and ensuring models stay biologically meaningful, with opportunities to influence modelling decisions and contribute to product direction.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Agricultural Science or related discipline.
• Significant experience applying agricultural science to solve real-world problems.
• Strong understanding of grazing systems and agricultural production.
• Experience designing, conducting and interpreting scientific investigations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to influence technical decisions through expertise rather than authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide agricultural scientific expertise to shape next‑gen predictive systems for grazing-based agriculture.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers and Product Managers to translate science into measurable product value.
• Identify opportunities where science can improve understanding of farming systems and design experiments to validate ideas.
• Ensure predictive models remain biologically meaningful and interpretable.
• Support data operations to define data needs and improve dataset quality.
• Partner with product teams to evaluate scientific opportunities and trade-offs and translate field observations into research questions.
