Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Manufacturing Engineer Intern to assist Auckland Production with developing standardised maintenance instructions and CMMS integration. You will help implement Planned Preventative Maintenance, create training materials, and enable scalable processes across sites.

You will collaborate with technicians, engineers, and IT staff to validate instructions in real production environments, contributing to AS9100 alignment and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Currently studying or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to create clear, detailed instructions for technicians with varying experience.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to create process maps and flowcharts.
• Comfortable working in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Takes ownership and accountability for task completion.
• Proactive communicator; seeks clarification and feedback from technical staff.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Collaborative mindset; able to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop standardised maintenance work instructions for PPM activities.
• Create structured work instructions for single point of failure equipment.
• Document maintenance checks and procedures for critical systems.
• Test work instructions in production environments and iterate.
• Implement instructions into the CMMS and train others.
• Support Power BI reporting for maintenance KPIs.
• Produce scalable templates for multiple Rocket Lab sites.
