Job summary

The Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking an Advisor Te Ao Mārama to support the ongoing implementation and embedding of Te Ao Mārama across the District Court. The role focuses on translating kaupapa Māori approaches into practical guidance and improvements for court delivery.

Based in Wellington or Hamilton, you will build relationships with iwi, communities and justice partners, analyse information for decision making, and contribute to broader service improvements that make justice

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience operating at an Advisor level.
• Experience working with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations or communities and applying kaupapa Māori approaches.
• Experience supporting projects and programmes in a public sector, justice sector or similarly complex environment.
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to analyse information, identify issues and contribute to practical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reports, briefings and presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build trusted working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Te Ao Mārama across the District Court.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations, community groups and justice sector stakeholders.
• Contribute to projects and work programmes that support organisational change and service improvement.
• Assist with the development of guidance, resources, reports and briefings.
• Gather and analyse information to support planning, monitoring and evidence-based decision making.
• Support capability development and sharing of good practice across courts and tribunals.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for court participants and communities.
