Job summary

Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor Te Ao Mārama to lead the ongoing implementation, embedding and sustainability across the District Court. Based in Wellington or Hamilton, you will translate kaupapa Māori approaches into practical frameworks and advice for senior leaders.

You will navigate complex issues, build strong relationships with iwi and communities, and contribute to a justice system that is accessible, inclusive and effective for all in Aotearoa

Qualifications

• Proven strategic advisory capability in large, complex organisations.
• Experience building relationships with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations, and communities.
• Experience leading or contributing to significant projects or organisational change initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality strategic advice on complex and evolving issues.
• Lead projects and workstreams to support Te Ao Mārama implementation.
• Build strong relationships with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations and partners.
• Support capability development and communities of practice across courts and tribunals.
• Monitor outcomes and support evidence-based decision making.
• Prepare briefings, reports, and advice for senior leaders.
• Support nationally consistent practice while enabling local approaches.
