Job summary

The Ministry of Justice in Wellington is seeking an experienced Principal Advisor Te Ao Mārama to provide strategic advice, people-centred design expertise and leadership for embedding Te Ao Mārama across the District Court.

You will work with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations and the judiciary to translate kaupapa Māori approaches into practical frameworks and improvements, building capability across the justice sector.

Qualifications

• Proven strategic advisory capability in large organisations.
• Experience navigating ambiguity and influencing across sectors.
• Experience with kaupapa Māori approaches.
• People-centred design, systems thinking or continuous improvement.
• Leading or influencing major work programmes.
• Strong relationship building with senior leaders and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted strategic advice to embed Te Ao Mārama nationally.
• Apply service design and human-centred design to improve justice services.
• Collaborate with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations and communities for participatory design.
• Lead capability initiatives and communities of practice across courts.
• Provide high-quality advice on risks, planning, reporting and sustainability.
