Job summary

Ministry of Justice - New Zealand is seeking a Wellington-based Administration Support Officer to provide high-level administrative support to Coronial Case Managers and Coroners. The role requires calm performance in stressful situations, travel as needed, and strong stakeholder relationship management.

You will work in a fast-changing environment, handle sensitive material, and communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

Coronial Services are currently looking for a Wellington based Administration Support Officer. Ideally this is a full-time position but can discuss part time options for the right applicant.

Job Description

You will be working in a fast-changing environment that will require a high level of agility and resiliency.

You will have strong interpersonal skills that will support your work with the Coronial Case Managers and the Coroners, but also be capable of dealing with distraught family members in sensitive circumstances. An ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

You will be expected to provide excellent and highly organised administrative support to Case Managers and our Coroners. You will need to build and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

On occasion, there will be a requirement to work additional hours with advance notice given so some flexibility in availability is required for this role.

  • Work effectively and calmly in stressful situations
  • Be able to handle viewing graphic coronial material
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised, great at multi-tasking and able to prioritise effectively
  • Enjoy working in a reactive as well as a proactive and fast paced environment
  • Professional and confident phone manner
  • Exceptional record-keeping skills with accurate typing and data entry
  • A good working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both with direction and independently
  • A desire to learn and adapt
  • Relevant previous experience from other similar roles

As travel may be required from time to time, you must be able to travel, sometimes at short notice. You will need to hold a full New Zealand Drivers' Licence.

This is a challenging role that will allow you to utilise your empathy, administrative experience, people and relationship management skills to a high level and be part of the team that provides New Zealanders with a first-class Coronial Service.

Salary

The remuneration band for this role is $55,343 to $74,416 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
