Job summary

Heritage Lifecare in Upper Hutt, Wellington, is seeking an Activities Assistant for St Joseph's Lifecare to enhance residents' daily lives with engaging, compassionate activities in a warm, supportive environment. This part-time position (18 hours per week) covers morning and weekend shifts.

Applicants should have caring experience, strong communication, a NZ driver's licence, and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for others, ideally in aged care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Full NZ driver’s licence and ability to drive a van.

• Understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and coordinate activity programs meeting residents' physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs.
• Plan, organise and run activities, outings, and events for residents.
• Collaborate with the team to provide a safe, caring environment and build relationships with residents and whanau.

About Our Role:

• St Joseph's Lifecare, located in Beautiful Upper Hutt, Wellington
• Part-time role (18 hours a week)
• AM and Weekend shifts

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Activities Assistant with a passion for caring for others, to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our residents. You will have a positive compassionate attitude, the ability to make others smile, and be great at working with people. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our residents are cared for to the highest standard with kindness and patience, in a warm and caring atmosphere.

As an Activities Assistant you will be involved in the delivery of activity programs that meet the individual physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents. This will include the planning, organizing and delivery of activities, outings, events, and involvement in community groups. This is a truly rewarding opportunity that brings a difference into the lives of others. Work together in a team to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for our residents. Your Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience caring for others, ideally within an aged care environment.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Full NZ drivers' license, and confidence in driving a van
• A genuine love for helping people, excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and positive attitude.
• A passion for continuous improvement, with a sound understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures.
