Job summary

Heritage Lifecare’s St Joseph's Lifecare in Upper Hutt, Wellington, is seeking a caring Activities Assistant to support residents with engaging programs. This part-time role (18 hours per week) involves morning and weekend shifts, delivering activities with warmth and empathy in a welcoming environment.

You will plan and run activities, coordinate outings, and collaborate with the team to meet residents’ diverse needs while building strong relationships with residents and their whānau.

Qualifications

• Proven experience caring for others.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Full NZ drivers' license, and confidence in driving a van.
• Genuine love for helping people, excellent customer service, friendly attitude.
• Passion for continuous improvement and health & safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver activity programs meeting residents' physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver activities, outings, and events.
• Work with the team to provide a safe, caring environment for residents and whanau.
• Build lasting relationships with residents and their families.

About Our Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Activities Assistant with a passion for caring for others, to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our residents. You will have a positive compassionate attitude, the ability to make others smile, and be great at working with people. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our residents are cared for to the highest standard with kindness and patience, in a warm and caring atmosphere.

As an Activities Assistant you will be involved in the delivery of activity programs that meet the individual physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents. This will include the planning, organizing and delivery of activities, outings, events, and involvement in community groups. Your Skills and Experience

• Proven experience caring for others, ideally within an aged care environment.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Full NZ drivers' license, and confidence in driving a van
• A genuine love for helping people, excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and positive attitude.
• A passion for continuous improvement, with a sound understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures.
