Job summary

Flaxmore Lifecare in Nelson is seeking an Activities Assistant with a passion for caring for others to enhance residents’ wellbeing in a warm, supportive setting. You’ll bring a positive attitude, strong communication, and enjoy working with diverse teams and residents.

You’ll plan, organise and deliver activities, outings and events that meet the physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive and emotional needs of residents.

Qualifications

• Proven experience caring for others, ideally within an aged care environment.
• Minimum NZQA Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent New Zealand or overseas qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Nursing, Diploma in Nursing)
• Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Full NZ drivers' license, and confidence in driving a van
• A genuine love for helping people, excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and positive attitude.
• A passion for continuous improvement, with a sound understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver activity programs that meet residents' physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive and emotional needs.
• Plan, organise and deliver activities, outings, events and involvement in community groups.
• Work together in a team to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for residents.
• Form lasting relationships with residents and whānau-family.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Activities Assistants with a passion for caring for others, to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our residents. You will have a positive compassionate attitude, the ability to make others smile, and be great at working with people. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our residents are cared for to the highest standard with kindness and patience, in a warm and caring atmosphere.

As an Activities Assistant you will be involved in the delivery of activity programs that meet the individual physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents. This will include the planning, organising and delivery of activities, outings, events, and involvement in community groups. Your Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience caring for others, ideally within an aged care environment.
