Job summary

Cedar Manor Care Home in Tauranga, part of Bupa, is seeking an Activities Assistant with a creative flair. This permanent part-time role averages 19 hours per week, with a rotating Monday-to-Sunday roster and daily hours 9:30am–2:30pm.

You will support the ActivitiesCoordinator and help tailor leisure activities for residents. Ideal candidates have an NZQA Diversional Therapy certificate (preferred), aged care experience, and a passion for making a positive impact on residents' lives.

Qualifications

  • NZQA certificate preferred.
  • Experience in aged care desirable.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in individual and group activity programmes.
  • Review and assess residents' activities.
  • Promote a homely, stimulating environment for residents and families.
  • Maintain communication networks to support the activities programme.

This is a Permanent Part Timeroleworking an average of 19 hours a week.

  • Working Days- Rotating Roster, Monday to Sunday, 4 days on and 2 days off.
  • Hours of work: 9:30am to 2:30pm.
  • Total Hours- 118 hours over a 6 weeks roster period.

In this role, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of Cedar Manor Care Home individual and group activities programmes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
  • Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
  • Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.
About You
  • An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
  • Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
  • A fun personality with a creative flair.
  • A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
