Job summary

Cedar Manor Care Home in Tauranga is seeking an Activities Assistant with a creative flair to support the Activities Coordinator and residents. This is a permanent part-time role, averaging 19 hours per week, with a 9:30am to 2:30pm schedule.

You will participate in individual and group activities, help review residents’ activity programmes, and foster a homely, stimulating environment. A NZ entitlement to work in NZ and a driver’s licence are beneficial.

Qualifications

• NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level preferred.
• Experience in aged care is desirable.
• Enthusiasm, empathy and passion for residents’ wellbeing are essential.
• Outstanding communication skills are required.
• Creative, fun personality is a plus; driver’s licence preferable.
• Legally entitled to work in NZ.

Job description

This is a Permanent Part Time role working an average of 19 hours a week.

• Working Days- Rotating Roster, Monday to Sunday, 4 days on and 2 days off.
• Hours of work: 9:30am to 2:30pm.
• Total Hours- 118 hours over a 6 weeks roster period.

In this role, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of Cedar Manor Care Home individual and group activities programmes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
• Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
• Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
• Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.

About You

• An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
• Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
• Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
• A fun personality with a creative flair.
• A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
