Job summary

Hutt City Council in Lower Hutt is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join the Finance team. You will ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time, and provide quality financial administration and support to colleagues across Council.

Based at our offices in central Lower Hutt, you will process invoices, match against purchase orders, respond to supplier inquiries and help improve processes. The role offers a supportive environment and opportunities to develop in a community-focused

Qualifications

• Previous experience in accounts payable.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues and suppliers.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and meet deadlines.
• Confidence using financial systems and computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices and payments accurately and on time with required approvals.
• Check and match invoices against purchase orders and goods receipts; follow up on discrepancies.
• Respond to supplier and internal inquiries with helpful, timely support.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support reporting requirements; help improve processes.
