ConsultANZ seeks an experienced Engineering Manager / Design & Engineering Manager in Auckland to drive concept to detailed designs for major infrastructure projects. You will provide technical leadership across geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structures, while managing design scope, budgets and risks.

You will lead design reviews, oversee interfaces with consultants, and mentor multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions on large-scale

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline (required).
• 15+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong technical engineering and design management background.
• Experience with major infrastructure projects and leading design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of concept, tender, and detailed designs for major infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership across geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structural disciplines.

ConsultANZ is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager / Design & Engineering Manager to join a leading infrastructure contractor in Auckland, supporting the delivery and development of major, complex infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly technical Engineering Manager or Design/Engineering Manager with experience across major infrastructure design or delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development and delivery of concept, tender, and detailed designs for major infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership across geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structural engineering disciplines.
• Manage design scope, programmes, budgets, risks, opportunities, and technical deliverables.
• Lead design reviews and ensure designs are safe, constructible, compliant, and cost-effective.
• Manage the technical and commercial interface with design consultants and project teams.
• Oversee Safety in Design, design controls, engineering management systems, and quality processes.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
• Support major project development, tendering, and delivery of complex infrastructure works.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong technical engineering and design management experience.
• Background in a major design consultancy or top-tier/main contractor environment.
• Experience across major infrastructure projects such as roads, tunnels, major bridges, or large-scale developments.
• Strong understanding of disciplines including geotechnical, utilities, hydrology, geometrics, and structures.
• Proven experience managing design consultants, contracts, variations, and commercial risks.
• Strong understanding of constructability, value engineering, engineering quality, and Safety in Design.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and people management skills.
