Job summary

MDE Norway seeks an experienced Safety/Offshore Design engineer to perform detailed design and modification tasks on safety systems for offshore projects. You will work within PFP, AFP, area classification, and fire and gas systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Collaboration with stakeholders is essential to deliver high-quality results. The role requires 5–10 years of offshore design experience, fluency in Norwegian and English, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor degree in technical safety or related discipline; relevant work experience acceptable.
  • 5–10 years of offshore design and modification experience in Norway; ability to work independently on V&M projects with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Ptil requirements, ISO- and NORSOK standards.
  • Strong self-learning capability and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design and modification tasks on safety systems in offshore projects.
  • Coordinate safety disciplines including Passive Fire Protection (PFP) and Active Fire Protection (AFP).
  • Engage in area classification, EF and SIS tasks; manage safety-related documentation and verifications.
  • Support risk assessments, HAZID, WEHRA, and design reviews; liaise with clients and vendors.

  • Escape, Evacuation and Rescue, EER
  • Safety Integrity Level, SIL
  • Definition of fluid groups, PED
  • Working Environment Engineering
  • Environmental Care Engineering
  • Interdisciplinary coordination, checks, IDC, and verifications.
  • Perform work tasks according to the company's and the clients governing documentation.
  • Give concise input regarding cost and plan activities for safety aspects of the project.
  • Identify and facilitate required risk and verification activities e.g. HAZID, WEHRA and design reviews.
  • Follow-up of client, vendors and 3rd Parties.
  • Support and follow-up of engineers.
  • Work actively for a good professional and social environment in the group.
  • Contribute actively to the process of continuous improvement and experience transfer.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master/Bachelor degree in technical safety or other related disciplines. Relevant work experience can compensate for educational level.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience within offshore design and modification work in Norway.
    Experience should give capability of working independently on the V&M projects while collaborating effectively with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Ptil requirements, ISO- and NORSOK standards.
  • Ability to show a high degree of self-learning skills.
  • Excellent Norwegian and English writing and speaking skills.
  • Good communication capabilities.
  • Awareness of Ptil requirements, ISO- and NORSOK standards.
