Job summary

PALFINGER MARINE is seeking a hands-on control-systems engineer in Bergen to design, implement, and upgrade control systems for cranes, winches and access equipment. You will troubleshoot, support commissioning teams, and contribute to system upgrades while preparing clear technical documentation.

A degree in Automation/Mechatronics or related field, PLC/HMI programming experience, and knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience programming PLC and HMI/SCADA; Siemens TIA Portal knowledge is an advantage.
• Practical experience configuring frequency drives for commissioning and upgrades.
• Knowledge of OT networks and industrial cybersecurity.
• Experience in control-system troubleshooting or technical support is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for cranes, winches, handling systems, and access equipment.
• Develop technical solutions for existing equipment and new products.
• Provide control-system troubleshooting and technical support to customers, production, service and commissioning teams.
• Support system upgrades, equipment modifications, testing and commissioning activities.
• Prepare test documentation, operating instructions and other relevant technical documentation.

Join our After Sales team and support the full lifecycle of advanced offshore and marine equipment. In this hands‑on role, you will combine control‑system engineering with technical support, troubleshooting, system upgrades, testing, and commissioning for cranes, winches, handling systems, and access equipment.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for cranes, winches, handling systems, and access equipment
• Develop technical solutions for existing equipment as well as new products
• Provide control‑system troubleshooting and technical support to customers, production, service, and commissioning teams
• Support system upgrades, equipment modifications, testing, and commissioning activities
• Prepare test documentation, operating instructions, and other relevant technical documentation

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Experience in programming PLC and HMI/SCADA systems; knowledge of Siemens systems and TIA Portal is an advantage
