Job summary

ORLEN Upstream Norway AS, based in Stavanger, Norway, is seeking a Tax Expert to join the Finance department. You will be part of the Tax unit, reporting directly to the Tax Manager, and work with an international team in a fast-paced environment.

The role focuses on supporting tax returns, transfer pricing, and forecasting while ensuring compliance with Norwegian tax legislation and the Petroleum Tax Act. Opportunity to influence tax strategy and interact with external advisors.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Norwegian petroleum tax.
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations on the NCS.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Relevant professional training.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and review of the company annual tax return, monthly tax calculation and related reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate responses to tax authority enquiries, audits, and information requests.
  • Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation in accordance with applicable regulations, OECD guidelines, and Group policies.
  • Lead the development of tax forecasting models.
  • In collaboration with the Tax unit, ensure compliance with Norwegian tax legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Petroleum Tax Act.
  • Monitor and assess legislative and regulatory developments affecting Norwegian corporate and petroleum taxation.
  • Provide tax advice and support to business stakeholders on operational, commercial and strategic matters.
  • Participate in tax-related projects, including due diligence processes, business development initiatives and transactions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks through effective controls and governance processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

ORLEN Upstream Norway AS is an oil and gas company which is growing and we are searching for a Tax Expert.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an international team of highly motivated and dedicated colleagues, working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

The role is part of our Finance department which currently has 23 staff members. You will be part of the Tax unit and will report directly to the Tax Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Knowledge and experience with Norwegian petroleum tax
  • Knowledge of relevant law and regulations within oil and gas sector on the NCS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Team player with strong relationship building skills across different disciplines
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
