Job summary

OSM Thome Limited seeks an experienced Fitter to support engine maintenance, repairs and machinery operations onboard for Royal Caribbean Group. The role covers maintenance, repair, overhaul of engines, hydraulics, and mechanical equipment in the Engine Department under supervision of Staff and Duty Engineers.

Applicants must hold STCW and Engine Rating (A-III/5) certifications, and have seaworthy fitness. Fluency in English and ability to work in a team in a shipboard environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW certification.
• Valid Engine Rating (A-III/5) certification or equivalent.
• Experience in a Fitter or engine department onboard vessels.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and vessel machinery.
• Proven experience with engine overhaul, stripping, and rebuilding.
• Physically fit and medically cleared for shipboard employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of engines, machinery, and mechanical equipment.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, valves, and associated equipment.
• Assist with engine rebuilds, machinery installations, and equipment breakdown services.
• Support technical loading operations and tender activities as required.
• Carry out general maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of tools and spare parts.
• Monitor machinery condition and promptly report defects, safety concerns, or maintenance issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of engine room spaces, workshops, tools, and equipment.
• Demonstrate competency in engine room alarm systems and onboard communication systems.
• Comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and maritime industry standards.
• Support effective teamwork and communication within the Engine Department.
• Perform additional duties assigned by senior engineering officers.
