Job summary

Nexans seeks a Senior or Specialist Engineer within the Marine Installation Engineering group in our Cable Laying department to lead multidisciplinary projects and guide marine installation activities worldwide.

You will work with engineers and technicians to deliver technical documentation, plan nearshore operations, ensure safety and quality, and interface with clients as the trusted technical contact across offshore and nearshore sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience from project driven business.
  • Experience from offshore installation or subsea operations is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written.
  • Experience with nearshore / shallow water installation.
  • Structured, analytical and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Lead multidisciplinary projects: stepping into roles like Project Engineer or Marine Engineering Lead.
  • Direct core operations: Focus heavily on marine and nearshore installation activities.
  • Deliver technical excellence: Deliver critical documentation and technical specifications.
  • Manage operational flow: Plan and schedule marine and nearshore operations.
  • Interface with Clients: act as the primary technical contact.
  • Drive technical innovation: Develop and refine specialized solutions.
  • Follow projects end-to-end: From initial design to site follow-up.
  • Champion safety and quality: Advance internal HSE initiatives.

The Marine Installation Engineering group consists of almost 150 engineers working with marine operations. You will be part of the Cable Laying department, which enables the company in its ability to plan and execute marine installation activities worldwide. HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

You will work in the Cable Laying department within the Marine Installation Engineering group as a Senior or S pecialist Engineer, with the level of the position tailored to your experience and expertise. You will be responsible for deliverables such as:

  • Lead ing m ultidiscipline p rojects: stepping into roles like Project Engineer or Marine Engineering Lea d .
  • Direct c ore o perations: Focus heavily on marine and nearshore installation activities, together with a specialized team of cable installation, survey, and protection engineers.
  • Deliver t echnical e xcellence: D eliver critical project documentation, including advanced procedures, operational analyses, and technical specifications for equipment and services.
  • Manage o perational f low: Plan and schedule marine and nearshore operations while effectively managing internal and external execution packages.
  • Interface with Clients: If applicable, a ct as the primary technical point of contact, managing regular client communications and aligning on engineering requirements.
  • Drive t echnical i nnovation: Actively pa rticipate i n developing, refining, and taking ownership of specialized technical solutions across the department.
  • Follow p rojects e nd-to- e nd: Bridge the gap between engineering and execution by taking projects from ini tial of fice design straight through to site follow-up, both offshore and nearshore.
  • Champion s afety and q uality: Make a lasting impact by actively championing internal Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives.
YOUR STARTING POINT

  • Higher technical education from college or university (bachelor / master's degree) and / or other relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience from project driven business, experience from offshore installation or subsea operations is a plus.
  • Experience from nearshore /shallow water installation .
  • Experience with barge operations, jack-up barges and other nearshore vessel/tools
  • Enjoy to lead and work in project teams but also independently.
  • Structured and accurate mindset.
  • Creative and has an analytical and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Like to seek more knowledge within your own discipline area and other interface areas.
  • Experience with Installation analyses is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, – oral and written .
