Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and maintain the core hydrodynamics kernel powering our world-leading ship simulators. You will work on real-time models from hydrodynamics to propulsion, collaborating with hydrodynamics modelers and engineers across disciplines.

The role emphasizes C++/C# development, internal tooling, and exploration of ML/CFD to boost accuracy and automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software development experience in C++ and/or C#
• Solid foundation in ship hydrodynamics, hydrostatics, and propulsion modeling
• Understanding of real-time simulation constraints and requirements
• Ability to advise hydrodynamics modelers on best practices and platform use
• Experience designing or extending tooling for engineering workflows

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain simulation code for ship hydrodynamics, hydrostatics, and machinery systems in C++ and C#
• Act as SME for hydrodynamic modeling supporting internal developers and modelers
• Build tooling to enable modelers to calibrate new ship models efficiently
• Explore ML and CFD to enhance model accuracy and automation
• Stay updated on latest hydrodynamics research and translate findings to the platform
• Ensure real-time performance and fidelity in maritime training simulations
