Job summary

VARD Electro AS is seeking a Senior Purchaser to lead purchasing activities for navigation equipment and related systems. You will build strong supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and drive cost improvement initiatives in a cross-functional team with Engineering.

The role requires higher education in procurement or engineering and several years of relevant maritime procurement experience. English fluency and ERP experience are essential.

• Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and lead negotiations on price, delivery, and terms.
• Develop and renegotiate framework agreements and price lists; evaluate supplier offers and perform commercial analysis.
• Ensure procurement data, pricing, and supplier information are maintained in SAP/ERP and support process improvements.

Duties and responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities within the navigation equipment area, including DP systems, sensors, positioning and related navigation and bridge equipment.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
• Lead supplier negotiations on price, delivery, commercial terms and contracts.
• Develop and re-negotiate framework agreements, price lists and other commercial agreements.
• Evaluate supplier offers and perform commercial analysis.
• Ensure competitive pricing and support cost reduction and procurement improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure technical and commercial alignment.
• Follow up supplier performance, deliveries and commercial topics.
• Analyze purchasing and spend data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure correct procurement data, pricing and supplier information are maintained in SAP/ERP.
• Support continuous improvement of procurement processes and ways of working.

Qualifications

• Relevant higher education within procurement, supply chain, business, engineering or a related field.
• Several years of relevant procurement experience, preferably within marine, maritime, offshore or industrial equipment.
• Competence and experience within navigation equipment, ideally including DP systems, sensors, positioning and related systems is preferred.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
• Good analytical skills.
• Experience with contracts, supplier management and commercial agreements.
• Good understanding of technical products and the ability to work effectively with Engineering and other technical stakeholders.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an advantage.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
