Job summary

Gard is seeking a Claims Executive / Senior Claims Executive based in Norway to handle a broad range of maritime claims, with main focus on P&I, for shipowners, operators and ship managers. You will work with clients, brokers and third parties in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to claims handling across diverse vessel types.

You will join a team across Arendal and Oslo, with opportunities to travel within Norway and internationally, and to develop expertise in marine

Qualifications

• Excellent written and spoken English is required.
• Background in law, marine technical, nautical, medical, shipping or marine insurance.
• Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
• For Senior role: several years of relevant professional experience.
• Exposure to a wide variety of vessel types, trades, jurisdictions and insurance products.
• Ability to work with colleagues and specialists globally.

Responsibilities

• Professionally handle a broad range of maritime claims, with main focus on P&I, from initial notification through investigation, assessment, negotiation and resolution.
• Analyse factual, legal, technical and commercial information across jurisdictions and policy terms.
• Provide practical, high-quality advice to clients on claims, coverage and related marine risks.
• Take an active role in negotiations, disputes, and recoveries where relevant.
• Build and maintain strong client and broker relationships and participate in meetings and events.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and development of claims expertise within the team.
