Job summary

The Kahoot Group is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join the global Kahoot Data Team in Oslo. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, build the next generation of the Kahoot data platform, and partner with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data models and trusted insights.

You’ll work on agent-driven data warehousing with BigQuery, Dagster+, and dbt, while modernizing infrastructure with Terraform/Terragrunt and advocating data governance and quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a data engineer with ownership of production pipelines and warehouse models.
• Strong SQL with performance mindset and cost-awareness.
• Proficient Python with clean, tested, typed code.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (GCP preferred; others OK).
• Hands-on with orchestration (Dagster, Airflow, etc.) and dbt.
• Experience modeling with Kimball/star schemas and data governance practices.
• Ability to turn business questions into well-specified data models and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own data domains end to end from ingestion to semantic layer and marts used by BI tools.
• Design and build pipelines in Dagster+ and Python assets with partitions and automation.
• Model data warehouse with dimensional modeling and lead remodeling of aging domains.
• Maintain data quality, freshness checks, tests, and monitoring across the platform.
• Develop data products and automations that drive business value beyond dashboards.
• Modernize platform by migrating legacy workloads to Dagster and dbt, and reduce modeling debt.
• Own infrastructure as code with Terraform/Terragrunt and enforce DataOps practices.
