Job summary

Cognite in Oslo seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver data infrastructure and robust pipelines that connect data from multiple sources. You may evolve into a Lead, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decisions.

You will work with data connectors, SQL, Python/Java, and REST APIs to enable scalable customer solutions and product improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or similar.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a customer-facing data-intensive role.
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines with Python, SQL and Rest APIs.
• Experience with distributed computing (Kubernetes) and cloud (GCP/Azure).
• DevOps mindset with Git and CI/CD and deployment environments.
• Enjoys cross-functional teamwork and collaboration.
• Able to investigate and solve problems independently.
• Humility to ask for help and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Drive integrations, extractions, data modeling, and analysis using Cognite connectors, SQL, Python/Java, and Rest APIs.
• Create custom data models for data discovery and cleansing.
• Work with Solution Architects to define queries with SMEs.
• Support customers and partners in data engineering tasks with Cognite products.
• Optimize for non-functional requirements like access control, security, DR, logging, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to translate needs into a product pipeline.
• Mentor, coach and help recruit junior Data Engineers.
