Job summary

Kahoot! is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the global Data Team and help build the next generation of the Kahoot! data platform, including an agent-driven data warehouse.

You will own end-to-end pipelines from ingestion to the semantic layer and work directly with analysts and business stakeholders who rely on your data. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration across Sales, Product, Finance and Engineering, and mentoring colleagues as we migrate legacy workloads to Dagster

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer with ownership of production pipelines and warehouse models.
• Strong SQL with attention to cost and performance.
• Strong Python with clean, tested, typed, and reviewable code.

Responsibilities

• Own data domains end to end—from source through dbt models to the marts used by analysts and BI tools.
• Design and build pipelines in Dagster+, coordinating dbt models and Python assets.
• Model the data warehouse using dimensional modeling and lead remodeling of aging domains.
• Set and maintain the data quality bar with checks, tests and monitoring.
• Build and operate data agents for modeling, monitoring, and analytics; define autonomously acting vs human-approved parts.
• Make metadata, documentation and the semantic layer production-ready as interfaces for agents and users.
• Create data products and automations that put data to work in business decisions beyond dashboards.
• Modernize the platform by migrating legacy workloads to Dagster and dbt; reduce modeling debt.
• Own infrastructure as code with Terraform/Terragrunt and practice DataOps (CI/CD, environments, deployments).
• Ensure governance, privacy, retention, and data protections across datasets.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Finance and Engineering to translate business questions into data models; push back when needed.
• Mentor teammates and help raise team conventions and documentation.
