Do you know how to turn technical complexity into a winning commercial proposal?
A Snapshot of Your Day

As Proposal Manager in our Bid Management team, you lead the bids that bring electrification, automation and digitalization solutions to industrial and energy customers in Norway and internationally. Your day might start with a kick‑off for a new tender, where you align Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial and Project Management on scope, schedule and bid strategy. It might end with a review of the cost base and the customer’s contract terms ahead of an internal approval meeting. In between, you keep the proposal moving, make sure questions get answered and turn many inputs into one convincing offer.

What matters most is that you understand technical solutions, see their commercial implications and can bring everything together into a proposal the customer wants to sign. You do not need to have followed one specific career path to get there - your background may be in bid or tender management, engineering, project management, sales or another commercial role.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As our Proposal Manager, you take end-to-end ownership of assigned proposals - from opportunity qualification, through bid preparation, clarifications and negotiation, to handover to the project execution team.

Your job is to make sure the pieces fit together and the offer reaches the customer on time and with the right quality.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the complete proposal process for assigned opportunities, from bid/no‑bid decision to contract handover.
  • Bring together the bid team with clear roles, responsibilities and a realistic timeline - and keep the team on track.
  • Analyse customer requirements, specifications and contract terms, and translate them into a competitive and executable offer.
  • Develop the bid strategy together with Sales and management: scope, partnering, pricing position and win themes.
  • Consolidate technical, cost and commercial inputs into one consistent proposal, and own the quality of the proposal documentation.
  • Facilitate risk and opportunity assessments, ensure mitigation actions are followed up and prepare the bid for internal approval.
  • Support clarifications and negotiations with the customer through to contract signature, then hand over a well‑documented bid to the project team.
  • Contribute lessons learned and ideas that make our bid process, tools and templates better.
What You Bring
  • A higher education in engineering, economics or another relevant field.
  • Experience from proposal, bid or tender management - or from engineering, project management, sales or another commercial role where you have worked close to offers and contracts.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrification, automation or digitalization solutions, or with other complex technical projects and customer deliveries, ideally within energy, industry or infrastructure.
  • Commercial understanding and a real interest in technical, contractual and business risk - you want to understand both the numbers and the terms behind an offer.
  • The ability to coordinate people across disciplines and create progress with many stakeholders and tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, and the confidence to work with internal stakeholders and customers alike.
  • A structured and proactive way of working, combined with flexibility when priorities change.
  • Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken. Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
What You Can Expect From Us
  • Own complex and strategically important bids that shape our order intake and project portfolio.
  • Build a broad network across technical and commercial functions, and with customers and partners.
  • Learn from experienced colleagues who are happy to share what they know.
  • Develop your expertise in bid management, contracts, pricing and the project business.
  • Grow your career within Siemens Energy, in Norway and internationally.
  • Have a tangible impact on how we deliver solutions for the energy transition.
