Job summary

The University of Bergen invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biomedicine, funded by the eHACS project.

The successful candidate will perform protein expression and purification, determine ligand binding, run enzyme activity assays, and solve protein–ligand crystal structures to guide compound design as part of a structure‑based drug design program.

The appointment is for three years, with potential extension if funded.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in structural biology or related field by deadline.
• Experience with label-free biophysical methods to study protein–ligand binding.
• Experience with crystal structure determination in drug design context.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; good English written and oral skills.
• Experience with expression and purification of target proteins (FabF, PanK or NMT) is required.

Responsibilities

• Protein expression and purification.
• Determination of ligand binding using label-free biophysical methods.
• Determination of enzyme activities using biochemical methods.
• Determination of crystal structures of target–ligand complexes.
• Analysis of target–ligand structures to inform compound design.
