Job summary

The University of Oslo invites applications for a PhD Research Fellow in Meteorology within the Department of Geoscience, to be located at Blindern in Oslo. The project EEIwarm investigates near-term warming, energy imbalance, and ocean heat content with NorESM3 and CERES datasets.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Meteorology or related field.
  • Four-year Norwegian degree equivalence for foreign qualifications.
  • Fluent English, and preferably a Scandinavian language.
  • Experience with analyzing weather/climate models and large datasets.
  • Strong programming skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze observational datasets to quantify cloud and radiative flux variations during 2023–2025 warming.
  • Apply NorESM3 atmosphere-only simulations to explore drivers of rapid warming.
  • Diagnose atmosphere-only and coupled NorESM3 simulations to link cloud processes with EEI anomalies.
