The University of Oslo invites applications for a PhD Research Fellow in bioinformatics and computational biology at the Ahus Campus, Lørenskog. The project aims to develop novel data-mining methods and a machine-learning model integrating TF–DNA interactions, epigenetic features, and 3D genome organization to identify functional long-range interactions in cancer.

The fellowship is three years with no teaching obligations, and the successful candidate will collaborate with UiO, Ahus, and Oslo

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in bioinformatics or computational biology; MSc in physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or statistics also considered with biology aptitude.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, data mining, and machine learning methods.
  • Shell scripting, R, Python, and C programming skills.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a biophysically interpretable machine learning model integrating diverse data to identify functional long-range regulatory interactions in cancer.
  • Work with UiO, Ahus, and Oslo University Hospital researchers to validate predictions with in vivo/in vitro data.
  • Explore data mining methods including network analysis in 3D genome regulation.
