Essentia, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking an accomplished Patient Transport Services Operations Manager to lead the day-to‑day delivery of Non‑Emergency Patient Transport Services across the Trust’s estate. This is a senior operational leadership role with responsibility for in‑house and contracted services, including assessment, patient liaison, planning and control, transport management, secure mental health transport, high‑dependency transport and inter‑site transfers.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country’s largest and busiest NHS trusts, comprising Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield, alongside community services in Lambeth and Southwark. Its clinical services are supported by a complex, operationally critical estate where safety, resilience and the patient experience are paramount.

Essentia is the Trust’s operational and infrastructure delivery group. Working across the Trust’s hospital, community and partner sites, it brings together engineering, estates, capital development, facilities management, digital technology and other essential services to maintain safe, resilient and high‑performing healthcare environments.

The successful candidate will bring a strong record of leading complex patient transport, logistics, operational or healthcare support services. They will combine strategic planning with hands‑on operational leadership, driving safe, efficient and high‑performing services while maintaining statutory compliance and a clear focus on patient experience. Experience of performance improvement, change delivery, operational resilience and working effectively within a regulated environment will be important.

Commercial and systems capability will also be central. The appointed individual will have experience of managing operational budgets, delivering value for money, overseeing in‑house and contracted services, and using technology, data and management information to improve performance and outcomes. They will be comfortable working with complex operational systems and using insight to strengthen service delivery, patient experience and decision‑making. They will be a confident and resilient communicator, able to engage a diverse stakeholder group and lead inclusive, ambitious teams that put patients first.
