Job summary

Secretariat Of The Haida Nation is seeking a part-time custodian to perform janitorial duties at three CHN HlGaagilda Skidegate offices. Duties include cleaning floors, restrooms, offices, kitchens, windows and disinfecting surfaces. The role requires a Class 5 driver’s license and the Haida preference per policy.

The position offers benefits as listed and runs 20–25 hours weekly. Deadline for applications is August 3, 2026.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of cleaning procedures, including safe cleaning methods and equipment operation.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors of the entire building; sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and/or vacuuming
• Service, clean and supply restrooms; empty and replace trash bags, dispose of garbage, disinfect surfaces, clean walls, fixtures and equipment, fill soap, paper towel and toilet paper
• Clean offices; sweep, mop, empty and replace trash bags, dispose of garbage, dust, and disinfect surfaces
• Clean kitchens; sweep, mop, disinfect counters, and clean kitchen appliances
• Clean windows and mirrors
• Disinfect all touch surfaces; door handles, telephones, light switches, office machines
• Ensure building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking all doors, closing all windows, checking that all electrical appliances are off and/or unplugged
• Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs
• Other related duties
