Job summary

Boise City / Ada County Housing Authorities (BCACHA) seeks a part-time Custodian to maintain cleanliness at 1001 S. Orchard St., Boise, Idaho 83705. Schedule is 4:30pm–9:30pm, Monday–Thursday. Wage is $18.60 per hour. Closing Date: Open until filled.

Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, restocking supplies, and reporting repairs. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work independently, and handle cleaning chemicals safely.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe use of janitorial supplies and cleaning solvents.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors; clean carpets and furniture as needed.
• Clean restrooms; replenish towels, tissues, and soap.
• Clean mirrors, windows, doors, walls, and fixtures.
• Notify supervisor of repairs and secure doors/windows after shifts.
• Move janitorial equipment; safely use cleaning chemicals.
• Order/stock cleaning supplies and keep records.

Duties

• Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets. Dusts and polishes furniture.
• Collects and empties wastebaskets; cleans trash disposal containers.
• Cleans mirrors, venetian blinds, light fixtures, windows, doors, walls, and drinking fountains.
• Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms and replenishes towels, tissues, and soap. Performs minor repair work as needed.
• Moves janitorial equipment in and out of storage areas. Safely uses cleaning chemicals and solvents.
• Notifies supervisor, verbally or in writing, of building conditions needing repairs. Locks doors and windows when work is finished.
• Responds to questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
• Ordering, stocking, and keeping track of cleaning supplies.
• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance Housing Authority policies, procedures and safety practices. Requires Knowledge of:

• Lift, move and maneuver hand and power cleaning equipment weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
• Work independently to complete work on schedule and according to quality control standards.
• Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. Identify and recommend improved methods of performing the work.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, building occupants, and the public.
