Job summary

Helly Hansen AS in Oslo, Norway, seeks an Outdoor Designer for a temporary maternity leave cover. You will conceptualize and craft outdoor apparel for women and men, collaborating across teams to ensure performance, durability and brand alignment.

The role emphasizes sustainable design, cross-functional work, and delivering professional-grade gear for demanding environments. Travel to key markets is possible while contributing to innovation and product development.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of related design experience.
Degree in Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
Deep apparel expertise in technical product design and creation.
In-depth knowledge of design techniques, processes, and technology.
Strong comprehension of product construction, color trends, and textiles.
Experience working with factories is desirable.
Awareness of sustainability considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

Product design: develop outdoor apparel focusing on user experience and quality.
Innovation: propose solutions for material choices and sustainability.
Research & trends: monitor trends and consumer needs for outdoor gear.
Prototyping & testing: sketch and refine designs with development teams.
Collaboration: work with product management, marketing, and supply chain.
Sustainability: integrate sustainable materials and practices.
User feedback: incorporate input from professionals and enthusiasts.
Technical specs: create detailed design specs and drawings.
Other duties: assist as required by the Design Manager.
Global insights: engage with markets worldwide and travel as needed.
