Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime in Norway is seeking a Network & Security Engineer to strengthen our connectivity platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You will design, operate, and improve network and security infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and resilient connectivity.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in network engineering or security, hands-on Cisco and Fortinet experience, and working knowledge of Azure networking, Python scripting, and automation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Network Security, or Infrastructure Support.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in ICT, Networking, or Engineering.
• Experience with Cisco networking, Fortinet firewalls, and Microsoft Azure networking.
• Experience with Python scripting, Ansible, Git, and REST APIs.
• Excellent Norwegian and/or English skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routing, switching, and VPNs.
• Support Azure VNets, VPN Gateways, NSGs, Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall.
• Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity and security issues.
• Implement security policies, access controls, and firewall rules.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Assist with network automation using APIs and Ansible.
• Support cloud and hybrid network connectivity.
• Participate in upgrades, migrations, and improvement projects.
• Create and maintain technical docs and SOPs.
• Manage Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and VPNs.

We are looking for a motivated engineer with a strong interest in networking and cybersecurity to work with connectivity solutions spanning industrial and cloud environments. You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving network and security infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, helping ensure secure, reliable, and resilient connectivity solutions.

What you will be doing

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure including routing, switching, and VPNs. Experience with network equipment from other vendors such as Moxa will be an advantage.


• Support Azure networking services, such as VNets, VPN Gateways, NSGs, Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall.


• Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity and security issues.


• Implement security policies, access controls, and firewall rules following cybersecurity best practices.


• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.


• Assist with network automation initiatives using APIs and tools such as Ansible.


• Support cloud and hybrid network connectivity solutions.


• Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement projects.


• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.


• Manage Fortinet security solutions including FortiGate firewalls and VPN connectivity.

We think you should have

• Good understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP Routing, Switching, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.


• Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.


• Experience with Fortinet firewalls and security solutions.


• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking concepts.


• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and security best practices.


• Experience with Python scripting and network automation concepts.


• Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, and Ansible.


• Knowledge of Linux for use in automation and data manipulation


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent Norwegian and/or English skills.

Having any of the following Certifications will be an advantage

• Cisco CCNA or CCNP


• Fortinet NSE / FCF / FCA Certifications


• Security+

Education and Experience

• Master's degree or bachelor's degree in field relevant for the position (ICT, Networking, Engineering)


• 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Network Security, or Infrastructure Support.


• Experience supporting enterprise and/or cloud networking environments.


• Experience with automation and scripting technologies.
