Qualifications

  • Extensive MEP delivery experience on data centres or mission-critical sites.
  • Direct, hands-on role delivering MEP packages with IST testing and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and interfaces.
  • Experience with UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH, chilled water and switchgear.
  • Relevant engineering degree; professional body membership desirable.

  • Manage MEP programme and subcontractor delivery.
  • Review design information, shop drawings and submittals with design team.
  • Oversee IST testing and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor installation quality, snagging and defect resolution.
  • Track costs, variations and risks; report to Construction Director.
  • Liaise with client and end users on operations and resilience.
  • Support procurement and tender evaluations.
  • Ensure O&M manuals and as-built/ commissioning docs are complete.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety across the team.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced MEP Manager to lead the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) delivery on a live data centre project, from design coordination through to testing, commissioning and handover.

Candidates should have direct, hands-on experience delivering MEP packages within a data centre or other mission-critical environment, this role is not suited to someone new to the sector.

Location: Various project sites across Norway. Accommodation is provided while travelling.

Type of Role: Permanent. This role is not open to freelance or contract applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the MEP programme and hold subcontractors accountable for delivery against it
  • Review MEP design information, shop drawings and technical submittals alongside the design team
  • Oversee testing and commissioning, including integrated systems testing (IST) where required
  • Monitor installation quality and manage snagging and defect resolution to the standard expected in a data centre environment
  • Track MEP costs, variations and programme risk, reporting regularly to the Project/Construction Director
  • Liaise directly with the client and end users on operational and resilience requirements
  • Support procurement, including technical review of tenders and selection of subcontractors
  • Ensure O&M manuals, as-built records and commissioning certification are complete and ready for handover
  • Maintain a rigorous standard of health and safety across the MEP team
  • Experience as an MEP Manager, MEP Lead or senior MEP Engineer
  • Direct experience delivering MEP packages on data centre or other mission-critical projects is essential, including familiarity with UPS systems, generators, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems and switchgear
  • Good working knowledge of MEP design, installation and commissioning processes, ideally including IST
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and interfaces concurrently
  • Confidence engaging with clients and consultants, in addition to site teams
  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification (mechanical, electrical or building services)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (CIBSE, IMechE or IET) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working on confidential or high-security sites
  • Familiarity with BMS/EPMS systems
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) coordination
