Job summary

Ribbit is seeking a Senior Software/Robotics Engineer focused on state estimation to lead the estimator architecture and drive robust navigation in GPS-denied environments. You will own sensor fusion, calibration, and real-time C++ implementation on aircraft hardware.

The role requires hands-on work with GNSS/INS integration, vision-based navigation, and Kalman filtering, with mentoring responsibilities and collaboration across flight-test, controls, and hardware teams. Hybrid Toronto-area work.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering/computing fields.
• Experience developing state estimation or navigation software for real hardware.
• Strong background in probabilistic estimation and Kalman filters.
• Experience with GNSS/INS integration and inertial navigation.
• Experience with navigation without GPS using vision-based sensors.
• Experience integrating and calibrating multiple sensors (camera, IMU, GNSS).
• Python or MATLAB for analysis and post-processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the state estimation stack and shape its architecture and roadmap.
• Lead navigation without GPS and ensure localization when satellite navigation is degraded.
• Own the sensor suite behind the estimator and ensure proper calibration, timing, and health monitoring.
• Write production C++ and prototype new filters and sensing approaches.
• Mentor engineers, present in design reviews, and define estimator capabilities and limits.
